1.0       CALL TO ORDER and AGENDA

Mayor Weinberger called the meeting to order at 8:08 PM on July 16, 2018.

1.01 Agenda

MOTION by Councilor Deane, SECOND by Councilor Roof, to approve the agenda as presented. VOTING: unanimous; motion carried.

2.0       CONSENT AGENDA

2.01 Amend/Adopt Agenda and Take Actions Indicated

2.02 Board and Commission Openings

MOTION by Councilor Deane, SECOND by Councilor Roof, to adopt the consent agenda (Items 2.01 and 2.02) as presented. VOTING: unanimous; motion carried.

3.0       2018 BOARD AND COMMISSION APPOINTMENTS

3.01 Parks and Recreation Commission: Term Expires 6/30/20

MOTION by Councilor Wright to nominate Alex Farrell.

MOTION by Councilor Paul to nominate Anne Paradiso.

MOTION by Councilor Bushor to nominate Steven Gomez.

There were no other nominations.

Alex Farrell spoke of having the parks accessible to all, using “Penny for Parks” funds responsibly, and working with City Council on the renovation of Memorial Auditorium. Mr. Farrell said he will be able to serve the city even if elected to the Vermont Senate.

VOTING (majority vote determines appointment): Alex Farrell received 7 votes.

Alex Farrell is appointed to the Parks and Recreation Commission for a term expiring 6/30/20.

Mayor Weinberger noted the pool of applicants was strong and all were urged to apply again.

3.02 Board of Tax Appeals: Term Expires 6/30/20

MOTION by Councilor Shannon to nominate John Qualey. There were no other nominations. VOTING: unanimous; motion carried.

John Qualey is appointed to the Board of Tax Appeals for a term expiring 6/30/20.

3.03 Board of Registration of Voters: Term Expires 6/30/23

MOTION by Councilor Mason to appoint Larry Granillo.

There were no other nominations.

Larry Granillo said he feels strongly about democracy and the right to vote as well as making this available to people.

VOTING: unanimous; motion carried.

Larry Granillo is appointed to the Board of Registration of Voters for a term expiring 6/30/23.

With no further business and without objection the meeting was adjourned at 8:18 PM
